Featured Reviews

This was the first time I had ever tried a detailing service and chose Vulpix purely based on the reviews. I was originally going with a 1 year ceramic for my Tesla but after watching James work and seeing first hand how good the car was starting to look I upgraded to the 5 year on the spot.

Highly highly recommend James and the service Vulpix provides.

Had my new BMW 1 series booked in with Vulpix Detailing to remove swirls that were unfortunately applied from the dealership on the pillars, lights and other areas of the car. The team did a great job on these and made sure all work was carried out to a high level. I only came across these guys a few days ago but they were quick to book me in and get the job done, even though they had other cars to work on. Elliot and Charlie were super friendly and didn’t mind talking whilst doing the work, or mind me hovering around asking questions.

It’s clear to see that these guys love what they do and have a passion to do great work.

Will be back there again to complete some further work on the car.

Have used Vulpix twice now for a complete overhaul, ceramic coating etc and they are absolutely amazing.

Attention to detail, great communication and really get a car back to as new condition as possible.

For us it’s well worth the travel from Leicester and back twice whilst we leave it with them.

I was introduced to James by my son.

I had my new car machine polished and had a a 5 year ceramic coating applied and the experience was exceptional.

The attention to detail and end product was remarkable and the passion for what James and his team do is there for all to see in the truly amazing outcome.

I highly recommend this company to anyone who values their car and wants it to look at it’s absolute best.

The guys did an incredible job with the ceramic coating and reconditioning of the top – it’s made it look almost new! I wasn’t able to get perfect pics this time to truly show off how well they made the car shine but we will next time with the follow up valet. Thank you for looking after it so well and for the level of detail and care you took. Will be recommending using Vulpix to everyone.

From the initial contact to the completed work done on my car Vulpix have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. The full range of services was explained clearly allowing me to make the choice for my Porsche 996.

Booking the appointment was really easy and the detailing work was run through when I dropped the car off.

I was updated as the work progressed with video messages. Picking the car up out of work hours was no problem for the team. The end product has transformed my 911. A massive thanks to Vulpix. I would highly recommend Vulpix to anyone.

I am a very delighted customer who will definitely be returning to Vulpix in the future.

Thanks Phil

Our process

We start with a proper twelve step exterior wash, using pre wash, snow foam, a safe contact wash and fine brush work to get into grills, badges and tight areas a sponge would never reach. Everything is done using a three bucket method and ph specific chemicals for your exact car, so we minimise contact with the paintwork and avoid dragging dirt across the surface. This is where we stop new swirl marks and scratches being added. If this stage is rushed or done like a cheap hand wash, that damage gets locked in under the ceramic coating and you are essentially sealing fresh marks into the finish.

Iron fallout sounds technical but it is simply tiny metal particles from brake dust. They come off your own brakes and every car you drive behind, landing on your paintwork, wheels and glass and slowly bonding to the surface over time. You rarely see them, but you can feel them as roughness if you run your hand over the paint after washing. Our iron fallout bath dissolves and removes these particles so we are not polishing metal into the paint during later stages. If this is skipped, the coating cannot bond as cleanly, the finish will not feel as smooth, and you can trap contamination under the coating where it continues to cause problems.

Tar and glue contamination comes from real world driving. Every time you drive through potholes, past fresh tarmac, winter road grit or road repairs, tiny tar spots flick up and stick to the lower parts of the car. Glue type contamination also comes from tree sap, pollen and sticky residues from the summer months. We use dedicated tar and glue removers to safely break these down so the surface is completely clean and flat before we move on. People often ask if we can skip this stage, but if we do you end up with little bumps in the paint that stop the coating sitting evenly, which leads to patchy gloss, reduced durability and dirt clinging more easily.

A clay bar is a specialised block that gently pulls out the last bits of bonded contamination that chemicals alone cannot remove. It cleans deep into the pores of the paint so the surface is as clean and smooth as possible before we polish. By its nature a clay bar will dull the paintwork slightly because it is removing that top layer of contamination, which is why we only recommend clay when a polishing stage is being completed afterwards. Skipping clay means we are polishing over embedded contamination and asking a ceramic coating to bond to a less than perfect surface. Using clay without polishing afterwards leaves the paint looking flat and lifeless, which is why we always pair the two.

Once the exterior is fully decontaminated, we take the vehicle into our custom built lighting tunnel so we can see every swirl mark, scratch and defect in the paintwork. Under this lighting we carry out a stage 1 paint correction polish that can remove up to around seventy five percent of light swirls and wash marks, dramatically improving gloss and clarity. This is what gives our jobs that mirror like finish and separates real paint correction from the quick dealer buff. A ceramic coating will lock in whatever the paint looks like at this point, good or bad. If this stage is skipped, you are simply sealing in all the existing marks and haze, and no coating in the world can fix that.

After the paintwork is properly prepared, we apply your chosen ceramic coating to all painted surfaces and to the wheel faces. We also coat all glass, using a slightly different coating on the windscreen because wipers affect that area differently and we have learned over the years what works best where. Coating the glass improves visibility in the rain as water beads and runs off more easily, and coating the wheels helps them stay cleaner for longer and makes brake dust easier to wash away. If this step is rushed or a cheap product is used, you might see some short term beading but you will not get the genuine long term protection, ease of cleaning and consistent gloss that a properly applied ceramic coating is meant to provide.

Once the coating is applied, we keep the car indoors overnight so the coating can cure in a clean, dry and stable environment. Temperature, moisture and dust all affect how a ceramic coating bonds to the surface, especially in the colder winter months. If a coating is left to cure outside and it rains, frosts or gets heavy dew on it, you risk streaks, high spots and poor bonding which can cause failure in months instead of years. By keeping the vehicle with us and controlling the conditions, we give the coating the best chance to bond fully so you get the durability, protection and finish you are paying for the first time round.
